Tulemar Beach Wins Award for the 15th Year in a Row

While thousands of tourists flock to Costa Rica each year to experience its lush jungle, exotic wildlife, delicious food (gallo pinto, anyone?), and friendly people, we are willing to bet that the majority of these tourists are highly looking forward to relaxing on Costa Rica’s amazing beaches, too. After all, our very own Manuel Antonio beach has been ranked top in the world for yet another year.

It’s no secret that Costa Rica is blessed with some of the most gorgeous natural landscapes there are, but the wonderful people of Costa Rica work hard to maintain these surroundings so they can go unspoiled for years to come.

Costa Rica has several programs in place to encourage the conservation of the country’s natural landscape, like the Blue Flag Ecological Program (Bandera Azul Ecológic), meant to protect the nation’s coastal ecosystems, prevent beach pollution, and honor those who are doing their part to keep Costa Rica a top destination in ecotourism.

Every year, the Blue Flag Ecological Program grants a prestigious award to beaches with a minimum of 90% in categories including water quality, coastal sanitation, tourist safety, beach access to garbage containers, drinking water quality, signage, and more. Beaches that win the award are monitored monthly to ensure their efforts are being sustained throughout the year.

We are thrilled to announce that our very own Tulemar Beach has won the blue flag award (with a score of 100%) for the 15th year in the row! This means that the Tulemar Beach is recognized as one of the top beaches in Costa Rica for its cleanliness and ongoing sustainability.
