Green Haven Villa

Green Haven Villa is the closest villa to the Tulemar Beach. Located just a few steps away from a protected green area of Tulemar, the panoramic views from this villa are of the tropical jungle where sloths, macaws, monkeys and many other exotic animals live. Enjoy nature and the symphony of ocean waves while you take the short 2 minute walk down to the beach. You can walk or take the resort shuttle back. This modern, tropical villa has three floors in addition to a rooftop deck. It sits at the bottom of the hillside, with convenient access to the roadway that leads down to the beach or up to the entrance of Tulemar. Its private pool sits behind and above the house on the hillside along with a half bathroom. A large grassy area lays just above the pool. The pool is one of the largest in Tulemar and the rooftop deck is a great place to relax, read a book, get a little sun, or watch the stars at night. From the rooftop deck, the pool and the grassy area, you can watch the ocean above the treetops. Stairs and steps connect all levels from entrance at the bottom to the grassy area at the top.

The private garage is on the first level, along with the exterior stairs to the front door above. The second level has the kitchen, with an eating bar, living room, terrace with a BBQ and dining table.  Plus a bedroom with a king size bed, private bathroom, indoor and outdoor showers, A/C and Smart TV. The third level has another bedroom with a king size bed, private bathroom, A/C and Smart TV along with a semi private loft area with two twin beds ideal for children or teenagers and an additional TV.

Green Haven Villa is an ecologically conscious Costa Rican family’s dream, built with love and attention to detail. The family offset the carbon footprint generated by the construction and rental activity by planting more trees and protecting the forest in coordination with the National Environmental Ministry on their sister property, a ten million square foot property located in the Costa Rican cloud forest.

Enjoy the BBQ and outdoor dining on the deck, have a movie night with the projection system in the living room, practice yoga, or just slow down to the pace of the sloths so you can breathe in and feel what it is like to stay in your own Green Haven.

This was my 2nd stay at Tulemar, having visited in 2017 with my husband and stayed at the Bamboo Villas. Following that trip, we couldn't stop talking about returning, but we really wanted to share the experience with my family. My dad is a hard sell, and typically one to frequent Caribbean all-inclusive resorts - he enjoys an "easy" relaxing vacation. I am a Catering Sales Manager at a 5-star Hotel in Boston, MA, and I put together a full-scale presentation to convince him to go here. IT LITERALLY TOOK ME 4 MONTHS TO SELL THIS. Having been here before and knowing how amazing it was, I was dumbfounded as to why this was such a hard decision, but he was skeptical of the distance from the airport and also that it is not all-inclusive. He finally agreed - mission accomplished!

Fast forward to our arrival day in San Jose, and the 3+ hour drive to Tulemar (there was a LOT of traffic that day). I could tell my parents and brother were tired, and less than thrilled to be in a van after a long day of travel (sidebar - our driver was lovely - they were just tired). My husband and I knew what awaited us, but it's hard to keep up the excitement when we were hungry and needed some cervezas. We did stop at the Crocodile Bridge which was very cool for a snack and a quick beer.

Once we were heading up the hill after passing through Quepos, I let them know we were close. We turned right through the gate and our Concierge Brian was there to greet us. He is such a burst of positive energy! You seriously just can't help but smile when you are with him - and we were excited to work with him again after working with him before in the Bamboo Villas. He hopped into our van and greeted us all warmly - and my parents' mood immediately changed. He gave us a thorough tour of our villa - stunning, by the way - and offered his cell number so we could get in touch with him anytime. I could tell they were excited for the remainder of the week.

    A few key notes:
    - This was the first trip I have ever taken where I didn't spend hours on the internet pre-selecting restaurants and places to go. We literally didn't have any plans, except to return to Cafe Milagro, a fan favorite for breakfast. We asked Brian for recommendations every day and he literally KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE PARK. Ronny's Place to see the sunset, with a picnic table reserved outside on the edge of the mountain - the sky was gray but at the last minute burst into an amazing array of oranges and pinks (make sure you order the Banana dessert!) Agua Azul with the friendly staff and delicious food. Gabriella's (a recommendation of the Green Haven villa owner) - amazing food and another stunning sunset. And Buena Vista - a private table set on the sand under the twinkle lights, just for us. Complete with a server who was filling in but happened to have lived in Ithaca, NY, where I was born and went to college. Small world! Additionally, Brian took the guys to a local store for some amazing steaks so we could grill out and watch the Super Bowl from our screen and projector in our villa. How. Cool.
    - The wildlife at Green Haven was top notch. Toucans, monkeys, a resident sloth. We had a 45 minute monkey visit on day one on our roof deck.
    - Such an amazing location. You definitely need the property shuttle to get up to the street (it's a hike!) but you are extremely close to the beach and the trails. Beautiful sunsets, every night. And gorgeous views from the roof top pool.
    - The owner of Green Haven did a spectacular job designing the property. It's beautiful! Perfect for our group of 5. The roof deck is idyllic. A 40' pool, lounging bed, covered seating area, surrounded by jungle but able to see the water - just perfect. And little touches - beach bags to bring our books and headphones up to the roof deck each day, a cooler to stock with bevvies, a bottle of wine and a hat as a gift! So thoughtful.
    - Our housekeeper Dixia was wonderful to work with. She kept the house clean and tidy everyday, did our laundry, and was so friendly and lovely to work with!
    - Amazing tours. We did a private walking tour in Manuel Antonio with Roy Morales (thank you, Maria, for arranging this for us!) It is definitely worth it to go with a guide - otherwise, I wouldn't have seen more than the trees above. We also did the ATV tour which was super fun.
    - THE BROWNIES. Make sure you get the recipe.

Overall, this was a family vacation we won't forget. My family doesn't typically like to "repeat" vacation locations, but I know we will be back. My dad has a really difficult time letting go of work, and I could tell he was totally relaxed and enjoying himself all week. My husband and I would love to buy a vacation home here someday, but in the meantime, we will visit. If you are on the fence, JUST BOOK IT.

    See you soon, Tulemar!

We stayed in Green Haven Villa for our first trip to Costa Rica. It was absolutely perfect for our family. The pool is incredible and we enjoyed watching the sunsets, monkeys and sloths from our rooftop deck. Brian, our concierge, was amazing. He made excellent recommendations for hotels and made sure we knew about all of the amenities at Tulemar. We worked with him prior to arrival getting our day trips, and activities planned and they were great as well. From the shuttle service and on-site shops to helping us get a cab and table at other restaurants to washing our clothes - we could not have been more pampered. I highly recommend this resort and specifically Green Haven Villa. It is essentially 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with amazing outdoor space and large pool. Go see it and tell Brian we said he is amazing!! Pura Vida!!!

I don’t know how I could possibly add to all the stellar reviews, but it can’t go without saying. This was the most amazing experience. We stayed at Green Haven, apparently the newest home in the community.

Two bedroom two bath and 2 bed loft. And own private small pool and veranda with monkeys in the trees surrounding and a view of the ocean. Projector screen, stocked with games, full kitchen. My kids were over the moon and so were we. Restaurant in the complex was amazing though we only managed to eat there once, beach area private to the community, and not one single person who wasn’t over the top gracious and helpful. Especially our concierge Brian who was so patient with every inquiry and went above and beyond to satisfy every whim including my quest for guava pastries, restaurant and tour recommendations and more.

From the moment I booked he was with us, helping and counseling to arrange and cater to all our tour interests and questions. I know we weren’t his only guests, but he made us feel like we were.

Hundred times more, if you can do this do it. It is by far the most amazing stay I’ve had anywhere. Brian made it a whole other caliber experience.

Green Haven is an extremely cool house. We've stayed in lots of villas and Green Haven is one of our very favorites. The house has a small square footage (two bedrooms/baths plus a loft with 2 twin beds) its two-story design is very efficient and it's full of fun details like outdoor showers. The rooftop patio, pool and monkey viewing area with jungle/ocean views is to die for. The beds are insanely comfy and the A/C works great. You'll be awakened by howler monkeys in the mornings (wow!!) and you'll fall in love with the mama sloths and their babies. It's a 5 minute walk to Tulemar's dreamy private beach and if the teens want more action they can ride the local bus (for $1) to the Buena Vista (sister hotel to Tulemar) at Manuel Antonio beach for jet skiing, parasailing and boogie boarding. It was a perfect set up for our family and friends. Last but not least I can't overstate how much our personal Green Haven concierge, Brian Quarta, added to our vacation. He insisted that we text him any time of day or night with any questions at all. He knew how to direct us to the best of everything from pizza to Costa Rican cuisine. He arranged our canyoning excursion (highly recommend!!!) and ATVing (teens loved it). He fixed some tricky rental car issues (whew!) and other minor snags and he answered a million random questions. Brian is very smart and is just about the most positive and friendly person you'll ever meet. This was our first trip to Manuel Antonio and Brian made everything SO easy. The housekeepers were terrific too!
*We recommend having a car as the house is at the very bottom of a rather steep mountain, near the beach. I believe there's a free shuttle service within Tulemar but we liked having a car for exploring around. Pura Vida! Potter family
