My husband and I stayed at Tulemar as part of a wedding party. It was a wonderful location. Our modern bungalow was very clean and spacious with spectacular views. The concierge was very attentive and responded to our every need! Both the beach and the pool were short walks that were surrounded by wildlife! We loved seeing the monkeys, toucans, and sloths, especially the baby sloth! Everyone we encountered was extremely nice and helpful and made our experience in Costa Rica a truly wonderful vacation. We would love to come back and enjoy many of the other recreation options in the area!

I stayed in Vista del Mar at Tulemar and had an amazing vacation. The views are stunning and the room is very comfortable. The beach is even more beautiful than it appears in the photos and so are the pools. By far the best part of Tulemar is the staff. I took the public bus from San Jose to Manuel Antonio instead of a private shuttle because I love the interaction with the locals. Therefore, I arrived at the resort separately from the rest of my party. I arrived and was immediately greeted by Dave and Brian who were anticipating my arrival and welcomed me by name. We were lucky enough to have Brian as our host during the length of our stay and he is truly amazing. He is kind and friendly and anticipated our every need. I hope someday he will visit Phoenix and I can try to repay some of his generosity. In short, stay here...you will LOVE it!

My sister and I just spent 5 days at Tulemar and loved it!! The hotel grounds were beautiful and the accommodations were outstanding. We stayed in Vista del Mar, which was very spacious (360 degree view...all windows) and had a large balcony with lounge chairs and table/chairs. We felt like we were in the jungle. There were monkeys swinging on the trees in front of our bungalow, and we had monkeys visit us on our balcony. We saw plenty of birds, butterflies, and frogs from our bungalow as well. The bungalow itself had a bedroom on one side and sitting room and kitchen with table and chairs on the other side (a wall split the two sides). The bathroom could be entered from either the bedroom or sitting room. The beds were comfortable and there was also a trundle bed/couch in the sitting room which was super comfortable.
The hotel is set in a jungle setting, so the grounds were beautiful. There were monkeys and sloths in the trees. We saw a mother and baby sloth in the tree by the pool. There was always something interesting to see. Our bungalow was by the adult pool and restaurant, so we were in a convenient location. The beach was about a 10-15 minute walk down a steep hill. I didn't love the beach. It was a bit rough, the water wasn't very clear, and there were some rocks close to the shore. I guess I was expecting the beach to be similar to the beach in the Manuel Antonio National Park (which was amazing).
The service was 1st class. The staff at Tulemar were extremely helpful and friendly. They were always willing to help. Brian organized our transportation from San Jose to Tulemar as well as my sister's boat tour. The van that picked us up from our San Jose hotel was right on time (a little early). The driver was friendly and stopped after an hour or so for drinks and a restroom break. Willie was also amazing with setting up tours, helping us with our safe and driving us to the beach. The restaurant staff were very accommodating. I'm a difficult eater, but they always prepared something I could eat. We chose to eat in our room or at the hotel, but there were also several restaurants within a few blocks of the hotel. A supermarket was also a few blocks from the hotel.

We spent 9 nights at Tulemar over March Break 2016 with our 2 boys aged 5 and 7. We travel quite a lot but we honestly feel like this was the best vacation we've ever been on. We were very fortunate to get a booking for Vista del Mar despite only booking 4 months in advance (seriously if you want to go here during high season plan on booking 5-6 months out). After booking Brian (our concierge) reached out and gave us information on the resort and handled booking all our excursions and transportation for us.
When we arrived at the resort Brian met us and took us straight to our bungalow - and we were blown away immediately! The pictures of the bungalow did not do it justice. It had a full kitchen (not stove - but a dual burner plugin deal that worked well enough) a beautiful modern bathroom, nice bedroom with 2 queen beds, a great living room and dining area (with a sofa + trundle bed). The best part was the balcony! A huge space with views of the ocean and sunset, a couple loungers, a high top bar table, and a gas BBQ!
The room also had 2 large flat panel TVs, one of which was a smart TV with netflix. The wifi speed was great as well.
Overall it is one of the nicest places we have ever stayed!
The property itself is stunning - the bungalows and villas feel like they are embedded in the rainforest. Every morning a troop of monkeys would come hang out on our balcony - which the boys loved! We never ended up going to the national park because on the property itself we saw: 3 kinds of monkeys, 2 types of slots, Macaus, toucans, lizards and a bunch of other animals.
The beach was fantastic as well. It's private to the resort so its never crowded, and very clean. Great boogey boarding right there! Word of caution is that the surf can get pretty big so need to watch out for the little ones.
Only downside of the resort was the food and drinks were somewhat pricey - but that wasn't a big deal since we ended up buying a lot of food and drinks from the two super markets that are 5 minutes walk outside the main gate (great selection of wine, beer, and liquor!)
Lots of great restaurants just outside the gate as well, and Quepos is a short $10 cab ride away if you want more selection.
Overall I would say if you're going to Costa Rica - this is the place to go. We plan on going back - hopefully with a larger group so we can rent one of the beautiful villas that are also on the property.
