Tulemar Homeowners Support Local Organizations

May 28, 2021

If you’ve been to Tulemar already, it’s likely you saw an abundance of wild (and some domestic!) animals in the Manuel Antonio area. Here at Tulemar, we recognize how special and fragile our wildlife residents are, and we also recognize how important it is to help our surrounding community. Lucky for us, our incredible Tulemar homeowners also see the importance of animal welfare, and they have banded together to consistently donate and volunteer with 3 amazing charitable organizations in the area: PAWS, The Titi Conservation Alliance, and Tulemar’s own Sloth Institute of Costa Rica.

Their generosity helps with the local wild and domestic animals that make Manuel Antonio so incredibly special. You can read more about these organizations below:

PAWS

PAWS (Pets of Aguirre Welfare Shelter) is a non-profit animal welfare organization that provides much-needed services to the dog and cat populations in and around Quepos, Costa Rica. The all-volunteer team does the following work each year:

  • Rescues hundreds of dogs and cats

  • Spays and neuters over 2000 cats and dogs

  • Cares for an average of 100 dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens to prepare them for adoption

  • Promotes animal welfare education both in the classroom and in the streets

The Titi Conservation Alliance

Titi Conservation Alliance believes conservation is a comprehensive process that requires local empowerment. All the projects are designed to create a positive long term-impact for the communities and the environment, while involving them as active responsible partners.

Titi Conservation Alliance was started in 2001 by a group of business owners within the tourist industry based around Manuel Antonio National Park, Costa Rica. Recognizing the need for conservation of their natural environment to maintain prosperity for the local community, this group of entrepreneurs began the Alliance with the mission to promote sustainable development and to conserve the biodiversity of Costa Rica’s Central Pacific Region.

The Sloth Institute of Costa Rica

TSI is a non-profit organization based in Quepos/Manuel Antonio. Their mission is to enhance the well-being and conservation of wild and captive sloths through research and education. They are also dedicated to collaborating with other sloth rehabilitation and release programs.

How can you help?

  2. Shop and bring much needed supplies from our Amazon Sloth Wish List
  3. Symbolically “Adopt-a-Sloth” to help send sloths back home and to keep the wild sloths back in the rainforest!

Thank you, Tulemar homeowners, for helping keep Manuel Antonio’s beloved animals safe, happy, and healthy.

Pura Vida,

Tulemar
