  • Lonely Planet Names Costa Rica One of the Best Countries to Visit in 2020

As the current decade rounds out, we are spending a lot of time reflecting on the past 10 years. We are seeing the #10YearChallenge on social media, we are thinking of all the changes we’ve gone through, all the changes the world has gone through, and all the memories we have made here at Tulemar.

Reflection is great, but want to know what’s better?

Preparing for the upcoming decade, all the changes you hope to experience, and all the memories you plan to make!

And if we’re going to prepare for an incredible new decade, why not set the tone with an amazing trip to Costa Rica, which, ahem, by the way, was just named in The Top 10 Countries To Visit in 2020 by Lonely Planet. *cue confetti cannon*.

There’s no secret why Costa Rica made the list… After all, it has a lot to offer. Incredible views, magical wildlife, friendly locals, diverse topography, and sustainable tourism (hooray!) are just some of the honorable mentions.

Here’s what Lonely Planet had to say:

Costa Rica flies the flag for sustainable tourism. This small country’s vast biodiversity attracts visitors keen to spot sleepy sloths in trees, red-eyed frogs paralysing their predators, and whales in the Pacific. Costa Ricans understand the importance of preserving their slice of tropical paradise and have found a way to invite others in while living in harmony with their neighbours – from leafcutter ants to jaguars. Ninety percent of the country’s energy is created by renewable sources, and it could become one of the first carbon-neutral countries in 2020. Adventure lovers can hike volcanoes or ride a zip line, while those craving ‘me time’ can enjoy yoga retreats and spa experiences. The catchphrase pura vida (pure life) is more than a saying, it’s a way of life.

We love the mention of living in harmony…. Which, by the way, is exactly what you’ll experience at Tulemar!

Nestled within the jungle overlooking the ocean, you will have the opportunity to live in harmony with lizards, monkeys, sloths, macaws, toucans, and other exotic wildlife in the area! And, with a wide range of varying accommodations, there a little something for everyone here.

For larger groups, or even smaller groups that prefer space and luxury, we have several private luxury villas to choose from. Most of these come with their own private pools, open air living spaces, luxurious amenities, and a personal concierge to assist you in anything you need prior to and during your stay.

Prefer something a little more quaint or rustic? We have several 2, 3, or 1 bedroom options that are excellent for your next getaway! All these come with access to a personal concierge and access to all the resort amenities (including our secluded beach!).

So, gather your family, friends, or just yourself, and head to Tulemar to start your decade off on the right (sandy and bare) foot. Hasta pronto!

  • Video Tour of Tulemar’s Casa las Nubes Luxury Villa

What do you picture when you think of the word “luxury”? Is it a large luxury villa in a tropical setting? Is it an ocean view from the back patio of said luxury villa? Is it a large private infinity pool that spans throughout the first floor with concrete structures made for walking so you feel as though you’re walking on water when you enter the house? That last question may feel a little too specific, but if it piqued your interest luckily for you we can show you what we mean in our home video tour below!

Tulemar’s Casa las Nubes is a true work of art, with a curved design that soaks in all its jungle surroundings. Spend time on the patio enjoying the amazing ocean view and wildlife watching. Play in the large infinity pool with easy access from inside the open air house. Relax in your secluded suite. Or, grill dinner while watching the sunset from the pool overlooking the jungle. It’s your call, and as far as we’re concerned there is no wrong choice!

The villa sleeps up to 10 people, and with 4 suites across 3 levels, there is plenty of space for everyone to have privacy and seclusion.

  • My Tan Feet Stays At Tulemar

If you’re planning a trip to Costa Rica, chances are you’ve heard of My Tan Feet. If you haven’t heard of them, they are Costa Rica’s leading travel blog, and they are an incredible resource for planning your trip around the country.  They have vacation guides, travel tips, advice, and personal stories so you can be an educated traveler, and we are beyond honored to have Tulemar featured as a hot destination on the blog.

Samantha and Yeison, the founders of My Tan Feet, stayed with us a year ago to scope out the property, take a sloth walk, and learn about everything Tulemar offers. They stayed in the wonderful Casa del Mar for 3 nights and wrote an incredible write up of everything Tulemar.

Here’s some of what they had to say:

Luxury hotels usually always have excellent service. The employees are nice, attentive and engaging which should be expected for a high end place but at Tulemar, you get much more than quick service. You get your very own 24/7 concierge!

They meet you at reception, take you to your house, show you around and give you their personal number so that you can always reach them in case you need anything.

Our concierge, Ashley, called us in the mornings and evenings to check what our plans were, if we needed any recommendations or hotels or tours and just to see how our day was.

All the employees are incredibly nice and attentive at Tulemar. At the restaurant, the waiters always filled up our waters (a rarity in Costa Rica), the drivers gave us a ride even though they were off duty and the gardener even pointed out a porcupine to us!

From the moment you enter their property, they treat you not just like a paying guest but as family. They really do go above and beyond to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

So, with some changes happening at Tulemar, it was a no-brainer to invite My Tan Feet back to the resort to cover the news.

The Tulemar Bungalows are undergoing renovations to become the Premium Bungalows. These Premium Bungalows will provide all the rustic charm of the original bungalows, but with an updated & refreshed feel. My Tan Feet was able to see the renovations happening and wrote a wonderful explanation of all the changes that are happening.

  • It’s Whale Watching Season in Manuel Antonio, and Tulemar’s Tour Partner Has Everything You Need!

“What wildlife can I see when I stay at Tulemar?”. It’s one of the most asked questions we get, and guests are always blown away when we tell them there is a high chance they’ll see monkeys, sloths, toucans, macaws, and lizards right from their vacation rental when staying in Tulemar.  (We can thank our amazing friends at The Sloth Institute of Costa Rica for that!) In fact, our guests often tell us they see more wildlife inside Tulemar than they do in the National Park, and that has us feeling mighty proud if we do say so ourselves.

But what about marine wildlife? Lucky for you, August and September are common months for migrating whales to have babies. This means that they are active and often seen during daily excursions with Tulemar’s partnering tour company, Sunset Sails.

Here is what you can find on the company’s site:

Our company, Sunset Sails Tours has been performing whale watching tours in Manuel Antonio for more than 16 years and our tour guides have a lot of very interesting information about this Magnificent Mammal which they will share with you during the whale watching tour.

We do recommend going on our morning tour to see the Humpback Whales because as we will mention in this post, the best time to see whales is from August – October and this is considered to be rainy season here in Costa Rica and much of the afternoon time is sometimes filled with rain. The good news is we have a morning whale watching tour from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  This provides you with nice weather conditions and a great chance of viewing the Humpback Whale.

The best time and considered to be the Peak Season to see Humpback Whales around the coast of Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica is from August through the end of October.  With that being said, the Humpback Whale does make an appearance through out the year but as we mentioned, the highest chance of viewing them is from August – October.

If you have an opportunity to take a coastal cruise, when whales are in the area, you really don’t want to miss the chance. Sunset Sails is ideally equipped to take advantage of that opportunity and has helped create many lasting memories of the thrilling experience of seeing these wondrous marine inhabitants.

There are just a few months of the year, when the humpback whales pass through the waters off of Manuel Antonio, Quepos, on their annual migration from  Alaska to Costa Rica. If you should be fortunate enough to visit Costa Rica, during those few months of the year, you just might be in for an unexpected treat. They are not as plentiful as the ever present dolphins, and they don’t reside in these waters, so a chance to see them is something very special.

Sunset Sails loves to bring guests out to look for whales and other marine wildlife (like dolphins and turtles, which are seen very often!), however, it’s important to understand that these animals ARE wild, which means there is never a guarantee they’ll make an appearance. However, with a lot of patience and a little bit of hope, you just may spot a visitor whale for yourself!

Do you want to explore the gorgeous water off the coast of Manuel Antonio and try your hand at spotting a majestic humpback whale? Ask your concierge to book you a tour with Sunset Sails and you’ll be on the high seas in no time.

Costa Rica Named The World’s Most Relaxing Destination by CEOWorld

When people hear the word “vacation” most often images of swinging in a hammock at a private villa, reading a book on the beach, or sipping a cocktail while watching the sunset comes to mind. In other words, images of relaxation and bliss.

However, with technology taking over our every day lives, it becomes harder and harder to unplug and disconnect from the things that make us feel less-than-relaxed. This means that even on vacation it is difficult to fully let go and recharge the way we should even in our luxurious vacation rentals with ocean views.

That is why now more than ever, where you choose to vacation is just as important as how you choose to vacation. Choosing a destination that contributes to relaxation and rejuvenation is crucial if you’re looking to unwind and recharge.

Lucky for you, CEOWorld just named Costa Rica the most relaxing travel destination for 2019! With its high Happiness Index, its stable government, and its lack of army, Costa Rica ticks all the boxes for an environment full of relaxation and peace.

It one of the most peaceful countries in Central America and holds the image of the land of peace and harmony. It has a high ranking in the Happiness Index as well. Costa Rica is a popular tourist destination and has a stable government and political system. It does not have an army and the living standards of the place is really high. It is also extremely safe for residents as well as tourists. It is internationally famous for its flora and fauna, with plethora of national parks and biodiversity. The unimaginable beauty along with environment-friendly accommodations really add to the exquisiteness of the place. Costa Rica follows the saying pura vida, depicting pure life. It is a way of life lived by most in Costa Rica which inspires us of living a simple life by making changes for well-being and contentment. – CEOWorld

If you’re familiar with Tulemar Resort’s luxury villa Casa de Frutas, then you are familiar with one of the most unique and arguably beautiful vacation rentals in all of Tulemar. • Tulemar Guest Spotlight: The Frahm Family

Nothing makes us happier than when a family chooses to make lifelong memories together right here at Tulemar. What an honor! That’s why we were thrilled when we met the Frahm family.

Jill and Geoff, along with their two girls Emmy (age 9) & Addy (age 11), came to visit us all the way from Loveland, Colorado. They had never been to Costa Rica before, but it was on their bucket list and after a lot of research they realized it was the perfect destination for the whole family.

Jill loves to put in the time to research their vacations, and once they decided on Costa Rica she was able to narrow down exactly what she needed: a place that is family friendly, has a great beach, and has lots of amenities and wildlife. Luckily for all parties involved, Tulemar checks all those boxes!

The Frahms chose one of our original Tulemar bungalows. Jill said that the ocean and sunset views were spectacular, and the bungalow was absolutely perfect for a family of 4 (we couldn’t agree more, Jill!).

We could continue to tell you how wonderful their vacation was, but we think you’d prefer to hear it straight from the mouths of sweet Emmy and Addy:

Tulemar: We are so happy to hear you loved your vacation! How did you react when your parents told you you were going to Costa Rica?

Addy: I was really, really, really excited and I couldn’t wait!

Emmy: I was really excited and happy that we were going to go!

T: We certainly hope that we lived up to all your expectations! What was your favorite thing about visiting Costa Rica?

A:  I loved all of the nature; flowers and animals! Snorkeling was awesome.

E: I have two favorite things: snorkeling and seeing all of the interesting animals at Tulemar!

T: Oooo, snorkeling! How fun! That’s something you can do at the beach, or in the pool. Which did you like best: The Tulemar Pools or Beach?

A & E: The beach! We like the hermit crabs and the boogie boards. But we liked the waterfall at the family pool, too.

T: Those are some of our favorite things too! What was your favorite activity that you did on your vacation?

A & E: Boogie boarding and zip lining!

T: How fun. I bet you got to see a lot of wildlife while you were zip lining! How many animals did you see on your trip?

E: We lost track! A million?

A: Sloths, white-faced monkeys, iguanas, geckos, macaws, toucans, turtles, dolphins, fish…

T: That’s a lot! What was your favorite animal that you saw?

A: Baby squirrel monkeys and dolphins!

E: I have two, okay 3! Sea turtles in the ocean that we saw on our catamaran cruise, hermit crabs on the beach, and the sloths everywhere!

T: Okay, lets talk food! What was the best thing you ate in Costa Rica?

A: We got room service from Tule Cafe one morning for breakfast and the vanilla pancakes were my favorite!

E: Yep the pancakes and bacon!

T: You girls seem like you have good taste! Pancakes via room service? We are all about that! What was the funniest thing to happen on your trip?

A: The funny kissing sound the geckos make at night when they’re eating bugs or talking to each other.

E: The mommy monkey with her baby that jumped right over my head at the national park!

T: Wow! What awesome memories! What was the coolest thing about Tulemar?

A: How connected to nature we were and the free boogie boards!

E: Tons of animals right outside our bungalow.

T: And what five words would you use to describe your vacation?

A: Thrilling, blissful, amazing, different, green.

E: Amazing, beautiful, wildlife, stay-there-forever, hot.

T: Those are awesome words… We may need to put you to work in our marketing department! If your friend was going to visit Costa Rica, what would you be sure she knew before she left?

A: The moving shells on the beach are little crabs, and if you don’t see any shells on the beach just grab goggles and dive a little bit in the ocean and they’re everywhere! Also the big grey fuzzy blobs in the trees are sloths!

E: There’s tons of wildlife, you’re going to have a lot of fun, and it’s hot! Do the snorkel tour with Sunset Sails…we saw turtles and dolphins! And go zip lining.

T: GREAT tips! Lastly, how is Costa Rica different than where you live?

A: There’s more variety of plants, more hills, and you have to use lots of sunscreen, it’s hot!

E: It’s hotter than Colorado, more exotic animals, cool plants, food is different…in a good way.

There you have it, folks. Book your snorkel tour, pack your sunscreen, bring your camera, and head on down to make some memories of your own. We are waiting for you.

  • Tulemar Beach Wins Award for 12th Year in a Row

Tulemar Beach has done it again! We are the proud recipients of the Blue Flag Ecological Program award for the 12th year in a row! If you’re unfamiliar with what this is, we actually wrote a blog post last year when we won the same award (what can we say, we’re creatures of habit). Check it out:

It’s no secret that Costa Rica has been blessed with some of the most breathtaking natural scenery in the world. It’s lush landscapes and vast picturesque coastlines make Costa Rica a top destination for tourists and gives the locals a lot to be proud of.  That’s why Costa Rica has several programs in place meant to serve and protect the environment to ensure that locals and tourists alike can enjoy the country’s natural gifts for years to come.

A perfect example is the Blue Flag Ecological Program (Bandera Azul Ecológic). The program is meant to protect the nation’s coastal ecosystems, prevent beach pollution, and honor those who are doing their part to keep Costa Rica a top destination in ecotourism.

Every year, the Blue Flag Ecological Program grants a prestigious award and certification to beaches that score a minimum of 90% in categories including water quality, coastal sanitation, tourist safety, beach access to garbage containers, drinking water quality, signage, amongst others. Beaches who win the award are monitored monthly to ensure their efforts are being sustained throughout the year.

At Tulemar, we consistently play our part in ensuring we keep Mother Earth clean and protected, and we are thrilled to announce that our efforts have contributed to our 11th annual Blue Flag Program award and certification! This means that the Tulemar Beach is recognized as one of the top beaches in Costa Rica for its cleanliness and ongoing sustainability.

Have you been to the Tulemar Beach yet? If not, come see what makes this place so wonderful!

We are feelin’ hot, hot, hot, and it’s not just because it’s summer year round here in Costa Rica! The Tulemar Bamboo Villas were recently listed (ahem, in the #1 spot, might we add) in Cosmopolitan Magazine — once more for those in the back: COSMOPOLITAN Magazine — in the very sultry and sexy article aptly titled “The 30 Sexiest Hotels in the World”.  Yes, you read that right… In the WORLD. We’re not blushing, you are.

We always knew that these stunning villas were romantic, luxurious, and dare we say it, sexy. But, we know we are biased so sometimes we need some outside validation. And, boy did we get it. Nobody knows sexy like Cosmopolitan Magazine, and their write up us has feeling, well, a little hot and bothered.

Isn’t it so funny how you know a hotel is sexy if it has a see-through bathroom? As if you’re doing absolutely nothing in the shower besides having super-voyeuristic sex?

Erotic hotels have a whole vibe that’s mostly corny but also kinda hot…and they should be recognized for their extra efforts in helping you and bae have a truly bangin’ vacation. That said, read on for our guide to the sexiest hotels in the world.

  • Close Sloth Encounter at Tulemar’s Private Villa Casa de Frutas

Can you think of any other animal that is quite as adorable as a sloth? They’ve become very trendy lately, and for good reason! They’re curious, smiley, sweet, and oh-so-cute. We have guests that come all the way to Tulemar just in hopes of seeing one of the many wild or rehabilitated sloths we have on site thanks to The Sloth Institute of Costa Rica. (FYI, it’s VERY likely to see them during your stay – sometimes from your very own private villa!)

For our recent Casa de Frutas guests, their wish for seeing a sloth up close and personal became a reality when a curious little sloth decided to pop by their villa to say hello.

To their surprise, the sloth took a liking to the rain chain right outside the Casa de Frutas dining area. Because of the open-air concept of the villa, he was as close as he could get to being inside their rental. It made for great pictures and wonderful experience for the family. Check out their pics:

While the sloth looks adorable, and possibly even hungry, we want to remind all guests to never touch or feed the wildlife. This is for their safety, as well as yours. Remember, we are visitors in their home!

Tulemar in the News: Coastal Living Magazine

At Tulemar, we do coastal living right… Which makes it a no-brainer that we’d be featured in an article by Coastal Living magazine.

The article came after news broke about our TripAdvisor listing winning the award of #1 Hotel in the World. As if that news wasn’t big enough, having a feature in Coastal Living was the cherry on top of our tres leches cake!

When it comes to booking a vacation, where you stay can be just as important as where you go. Some might base their decision on a hotel’s killer swimming pool, while others are lured by the swoon-worthy spa.

But if what you’re after is overall greatness—based on feedback from millions of travelers around the world—you might want to add the off-the-beaten-path beaches of Costa Rica to your vacation bucket list. According to TripAdvisor’s annual Traveler’s Choice Awards, the one hotel that earns the most positive report card in 2019 isn’t a big-name chain in a big-time tourist destination. It’s a 33-acre “jungle resort” in the Costa Rican town of Manuel Antonio.

Perched on the Pacific Coast with a beautiful private beach, the Tulemar Bungalows & Villas is a part-hotel, part-residential development surrounded by greenery and wildlife. With just eight resort-owned bungalows, the majority of stays are privately owned vacation villas managed by the resort. On TripAdvisor, the property’s earned a near-perfect record from traveler reviews, with almost 3,000 five-star ratings.

And we can’t help but think that—coupled with the property’s stunning accommodations—it’s the unique beauty of the setting that sets it apart. Perched on a hillside, much of the rental units are surrounded by tropical foliage and gifted with views of the Pacific. There’s a draw for wildlife enthusiasts, too: Because of its rugged location, Tulemar is also home to the Sloth Institute of Costa Rica, which aims to enhance the conservation of wild and captive sloths through research and education.

Naturally, sloth (and monkey and macaw) spotting is as much an activity here as is lounging on the sun-soaked beaches. Which, in and of itself, explains why Tulemar should absolutely have a place on your travel wish list.

Want to book now? According to TripAdvisor, you can slip into this sloth sanctuary and seaside paradise for an average cost of $243 per night, with stays including full kitchens, living rooms, and oceanview terraces.

  • Tulemar Resort in the News: Forbes Magazine

If we can’t be on the cover of Forbes Magazine (Hey! Don’t give up on us yet!), we’ll settle for an article.

Recently we have been getting some media features, and we’d be lying if we said we aren’t proud of an article in Forbes that features Tulemar’s gorgeous – if we do say so ourselves – resort.

TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel site, has released its eagerly-anticipated Travellers Choice Awards for  the Best Hotels of the World based on the millions of reviews and opinions collected during the last year from travelers worldwide – and it features many surprises.

Now in its 17th year, the awards determined by an algorithm based on all reviews and opinions from TripAdvisor users, are divided into nine categories including Top Hotels Overall, Luxury, Bargain, Small, Best Service, B&Bs and Inns, Romance, Family and All-Inclusive.

The total number acknowledged amounts to 7,812 properties in 94 countries.

Sounds like a lot? TripAdvisor fields an average of 390 million unique visitors a month with more than 280 new reviews posted on the site every minute. Hence the big numbers.

The winners of the Travellers Choice Awards vary from a luxury hotel built inside ancient caves in Cappadocia, Turkey, and a Riad in Marrakech, Morocco, to an island resort in Belize, a spa in the Austrian Alps and deluxe suites in Spain’s Canary Islands.

The #1 hotel in the list of 2019’s “Top 25 hotels in the world” is the Tulemar Resort & Beach, located in Manuel Antonio, Quepos, Costa Rica, and described as “a 33 acre resort with a collection of over 50 accommodations ranging from rustic bungalows to luxurious private villas, surrounded by jungle and  wildlife: you’ll see monkeys, sloths and exotic birds throughout the property and on our hiking trails.”

  • The Sloth Institute at Tulemar Saving Lives with Sloth Speedways

If you’ve ever been to Tulemar, or even just Manuel Antonio, you may remember seeing colorful ropes connecting the treetops. These ropes aren’t placed by mistake. They are “sloth speedways” that have been cleverly placed by The Sloth Institute of Costa Rica to help sloths (and other wildlife!) get safely from tree to tree.

You may wonder why these animals need these ropes to effortlessly migrate when the ropes were never a necessity before. Unfortunately, rapid deforestation has caused sloths to lose their ability to acquire food & safety easily, which has led them to depend on crossing busy roads or using electrical wires to get from point A to point B. These methods of migration have proven to be dangerous to sloths, and puts them at severe risk of injury or death.

The Sloth Institute – which has its research and release facility right inside Tulemar’s property – has dedicated themselves to building “sloth speedways” in areas that are high traffic for sloths and monkeys but have become nearly inaccessible. These speedways have helped the creatures continue their natural migration patterns, and has saved many lives!

If you’re interested in learning more about The Sloth Institute and how you can help in their efforts to saving sloths, visit their website here.

  • 3 Animals You are Sure to Hear in Manuel Antonio

If you are reading this blog, it’s probably safe to assume that you have done all the research you can to fully prepare yourself for your upcoming Costa Rican adventure (lucky you!). We are guessing that you’ve made a list of all the best tours to experience, the most delicious restaurants in the area, and which animals you are sure to see.

But, have you prepared yourself for all the animals you are going to hear while in Costa Rica? It’s something that is often not thought about until you arrive in the jungle and you hear what sounds like a gorilla outside your bedroom window.

Spoiler alert: That’s not a gorilla… It’s one of the animals on our “noisy” list below! So, prepare to be prepared even more than you already thought. Here are our 3 animals that you are sure to hear while in Manuel Antonio:

    • Howler Monkeys
      • Howler monkeys are the world’s loudest land mammal, and they’ll make sure you know it. Referred to as “Costa Rica’s Alarm Clock”, these guys love to warm up their voices first thing in the morning as the sun rises. Their loud growling, howling, and grunting sounds so intimidating that some people even mistake it for a gorilla (don’t worry, we don’t have those here.). But don’t be fooled, the Howlers are as harmless as they are noisy!
    • Geckos
      • We certainly hope you don’t have a phobia of lizards, because little house geckos are abundant in Costa Rica. They can be found crawling on your floors, walls, and ceilings, and they are excellent at keeping the insects at bay.  They don’t consistently make noise, but when they do  they make sure you hear it. Their high-pitched chirping may startle you the first time you hear it, especially if you are sitting in the comfort of your home and not expecting to hear a little animal sound! But don’t worry, it’s just a little gecko letting you know he’s about to eat the troublesome mosquito that has been scouting you out.
    • Scarlet Macaws
      • If you’ve never seen a Scarlet Macaw, you are in for an absolute treat. These majestic creatures love to put on an air show, and the best part is they always announce when they’re coming. Their loud prehistoric squawk can be heard from afar as the Macaws round the corner for a gorgeous fly by. It’s the perfect heads up that they’re on their way and you should get your camera ready!

4 Reasons to Travel For the Holidays

The holidays are such a special time. They’re full of cheer, good spirits, excitement, and love. They can also be full of chaos and stress, which may sometimes leave you wondering “is it worth it?”.

We love gifts just as much as the next guy, but we truly believe one of the best things you can do for your family is to forgo the presents take a trip for the holidays.

    Why, you may ask?

1.) No cooking, cleaning, shopping, or entertaining

    • Have we piqued your interest? One of the most stressful things about the holidays is the chaos of managing your gift list, figuring out when to shop, staying within budget, choosing a menu and planning the time to cook, cleaning up after everyone, then doing it all again the next day! When you travel (ahem, especially to a place like Tulemar…), all that can be taken care of for you! Plan to have a private chef in your villa, or pick a delicious restaurant for your holiday meal. Clean up? No need! Your daily maid service will have your rental looking spotless in no time. Entertaining? Your concierge will handle all tours and reservations so you don’t have to lift a finger.

2.) Give the gift of memories

    • We truly believe it is better to give experiences vs. things. Do you feel like your toy room is cluttered and your kids already have everything they could ever want, and then some? Giving your family a memory of a lifetime is far more valuable than giving them the trendiest gadget that will get old in 6 months. You’re allowing them to learn and see new cultures, bond with their family, and experience life a little bolder. How can you say no to that?

3.) An easy place for everyone to meet

    • Interested in bringing extended family along for the ride? Sometimes family members can be scattered about, and choosing whose house to host your holiday can be seriously headache inducing. Plan to all meet in one place so no one gets stuck with all the cooking and cleaning.

4.) No need to entertain the kids during Christmas Break

    • Do you dread having the kids out of school for Christmas Break because that means constantly needing to entertain them? Hey, just bring them on vacation and they (and you) will be as happy and entertained as can be!

Pro Tip: If your family isn’t keen on the idea of no gifts, plan to bring a few small things to open while you’re away. Be sure to bring plenty of tissue paper, because it can be used in a “snowball fight” once everyone opens their gifts!

    Happy Holidays and Pura Vida,

    Tulemar
